I have been there many times and spent many pleaseant afternoons and evenings in Grechs. The street would be even dimmer at night, were it not for the shop lights. The brightest light in the street is the Pharmacy sign !

If you think it looks like a dimly lit back alley i can assure it,s nothing like that perhaps you should go and have a look for yourself.

Hi George; I'm with you all the way. We've been going for quite a few yrs now. Never get bored even though we often visit the same places. There's something so relaxing about the place even in July / August when it's so much busier. Gozo is just the same (just quieter).

Considering this is the main street in the Capitol city of the City of Culture 2018 it is a great pity that such nice buildings like the one above and around Grechs are allowed to rot and decay. No doubt, at one time, is was all one fine Palazzo. But the floor above shows a great lack of care and stewardship that is typical of so many fine building in Malta. Why is this allowed ??

Just uploaded a photo from my "youth" - parade ground and barracks behind me. I'd just come off parade. Scanned from a 6 x 4 print dated August 1959.
