Well CS, I bow to your obviously superior knowledge of the world's back alleys.
18-19oct18--02:30 A fantastic lightning storm has been showing its stuff for over an hour tonight. Beautiful flash bursts illuminating beyond the far end of this grand street. EnJoy EnJoy
18oct18--George nelson, Back alleys are known world wide for having illuminated shops lining both sides. EnJoy EnJoy
I have been there many times and spent many pleaseant afternoons and evenings in Grechs. The street would be even dimmer at night, were it not for the shop lights. The brightest light in the street is the Pharmacy sign !
If you think it looks like a dimly lit back alley i can assure it,s nothing like that perhaps you should go and have a look for yourself.
..... and it still looks like a dimly lit back alley......
Hi George; I'm with you all the way. We've been going for quite a few yrs now. Never get bored even though we often visit the same places. There's something so relaxing about the place even in July / August when it's so much busier. Gozo is just the same (just quieter).
Just returned from 11 days on this great island, people great as always weather ,food, drink , great .you can always find something different, never get bored of this lovely island and it,s people.

Considering this is the main street in the Capitol city of the City of Culture 2018 it is a great pity that such nice buildings like the one above and around Grechs are allowed to rot and decay. No doubt, at one time, is was all one fine Palazzo. But the floor above shows a great lack of care and stewardship that is typical of so many fine building in Malta. Why is this allowed ??
27sep18--Along the main streets of Valletta on the 29th and 30th September 2018. Starting at 10.00am, Legio X Fretensis Malta will be marching from Floriana and entering Valletta. During the event, Legio X Fretensis Malta shall be announcing and giving information about the group. Along the way, Republic Street, a scene of Roman religion and other daily life scenes in St. John’s Street, Merchants Street and Freedom Square as it would have happened during Roman times will be performed. At around noon, the group will be marching back to Floriana. The event will include special assigned areas: in front of the Parliament building, in front of The Archaeology Museum, in front of St. John’s Co-Cathedral and back to Republic Street. EnJoy EnJoy
