Looks like all will be completed before next year, a snack in this part of town is always a relaxing pleasure
Derek, the second pool is going to be indoor to allow for winter training of the waterpolo team. I haven't seen the plans but I assume it will under where the restaurant used to be (and I think will be) which is on the far side of the site looking in. The indoor pool was one of the objectives for the project but unfortunately I couldn't attend the meeting when they officially launched it so I don't have the exact details. Hope to be able to have a Cisk lager at the restaurant next time around you're here.
Victor may thanks for that information ,when viewing the site from here it is a bit deceptive as there does not look like enough room for two pools . hopefully it will be sorted by the time we can visit.gan canny
The pool complex is scheduled to be ready this October and although the area looks quiet, every time I drop by there are workers on site. This is quite a big project because it will consist of two pools, the bigger one which is shown on left hand side of frame and an indoor one for winter training. There could be third smaller one for kids. There will be ladies & gents' shower rooms, a gym and a restaurant. The whole idea behind the project was to build a concrete buffer wall all around and raise the pool to just under street level so that there will be no more damage done by northeast winds that last year destroyed just about everything. Looking forward to enjoying the pool next summer.
When we were there back in February the work on the pool was making good progress, but looks like it has come to a stop for the summer. In Malta, construction starts October/November until March/April, so hopefully work will resume on the pool later this year.
There was €1 million awarded in 2017 to the upgrade of Sirens pool. looking like the work has been slow to starting.
Derek the site behind is where the polo pool was, we have seen it in a bad state, last time we were in Malta they had drained the pool and cleared the area of the rubbish. It looked like the pool was going to be re-instated.
Avril Bailey that is the local polo pitch, a lot in Malta are in the open sea.
Thanks for moving the cam such a better view and Thanks to the Gillieru for the cam
Looks like a polo net in the sea.
7.30 Malta time, watching the sun settings over St Paul's bay. Takes me back to my last trip in October.
When shall you do one in xemxija near beachaven area please? Thanks
It's looking like a repeat of the weather of 12 months ago when there were gale force winds hit Malta. We were told that the sea was so bad that fish from the fish farms were thrown up out of the sea and onto the road. That transfer from the airport was a lot slower than normal due to the ainds.
Just back from Malta, the polo pool is well underway to being refurbished. The Seaview, was demolished and the new build looks like it could be open thos summer, it is that far advanced
St Paul's Bay at its best at this time of the early morning. So beautiful and serene. I miss the small fisherman's boat with its small engine tup, tupping away around the bay looking to catch an octopus or two that used to be eagerly bought by the housewives waiting on the pier. Those where the days!
Some info.........just looked up the dates for the 2020 Lost and Found Music . It will be held between Thursday 30 April and Sunday 3 May. If anything like this year keep well away, will be more people roaming the streets than in the venue
