Thanks for the explanation, Capture Sam. The blue reminded me of copper sulphate crystals and wondered if that was the reason, but I am wrong in my thinking.

Hello! Two days ago I visited this camera and saw people who were sliding on the ice, walking was difficult for them. Everything is wonderfull ! enjoy those who are there and those who look from home too !.

14feb19--Blue ice occurs when snow falls on a glacier, is compressed, and becomes part of the glacier. Air bubbles are squeezed out and ice crystals enlarge, making the ice appear blue. EnJoy EnJoy

The ice is a lovely blue hue, I don't think it is reflection of sky.

Does anyone know what kind of birds are always here? The tourists feed them from time to time.
I am familiar with North American birds, but don't know European ones.

There is a beautiful display of lights, who or what is causing it? I assume it is not a natural phenomenon, but is lively to watch.

5dec18--Viewers, please use the 'locate' function to learn where/what you see here. The ice is in a trapped bay. Winds and tides move the ice out of view at times. A touch of sno seen today. EnJoy EnJoy Thank You host : icelagoon.is

The ice is there Sharron. But yesterday just before you looked someone had ordered a rather large martini, on the rocks.
