I have been watching Liar on tv and it was nice to see the view facing the pier, ie where the webcam is,and now gives me a better perspective of Deal, such a lovely area.
Hi 'ifour', The cabin runs mainly for ice creams, not sure about their produce through the winter, but a very nice couple manage the business.Regards, Mark.
Work to spruce up one of a Kent town's most treasured landmarks has been announced ...“It is anticipated that work should commence during the spring of 2018. “An initial survey has identified that some concrete repairs are required in the shorter term. The council are seeking specialist advice and prices to enable these repairs to be made before the onset of winter.” "Although at an early stage, this should include new seating, new lighting, a new pier surface and repairs to the concrete structure.
Watched a large group of folks having their photo taken yesterday morning, in front of the pier, for what looked like a beach clean team! Good on ya!
I suspect Deal is about to get some 'interest' seeing as its pier is now featuring in the new ITV drama Liar (started in the UK 11th Sept). Which, might also explain, the refurbishment comment made a few weeks ago. The cafe, for a short time, was done up to look like a posh bistro/restaurant. It's only thanks to Skyline I recognised it :)
Fishing tackle shop certainly opens long hours...7:30 till late 22:00...what is the other unit a lot better hours 10am – 4pm
Just in case anyone is interested, the boat Mark told us about is just passing Broadstairs heading for the I.O.W.
So I hear that the pier is undergoing a big refurbishment soon, that will be interesting to watch..
Bit misty this morning but sunny and calm, by the way Galetea is moored in Harwich at the moment.
it would be.
What a wonderful world...
I had another look this morning and it appears to be working in the estuary.
I agree with you there Gwynn H, very interesting. Mark, the boat you mentioned Galatea is anchored in the Thames estuary.
Very interesting read! I will try to check in regularly and see if I can spot it.
