Ialysos, Trianta Beach from the Electra Palace Rhodes

Rhodes

Rhodes is a Greek island located in the southeastern Aegean. It is the third most populated Greek island after Crete and Evia. Rhodes, the island of Knights, offers to its visitors a journey into the past, party till the morning, cosmopolitan resorts and beautiful isolated beaches. As you can imagine, Rhodes is a place of contrasts. Located at the crossroads of two major sea lanes of the Mediterranean, the Aegean Sea and the coast of the Middle East. One of the main attractions of the island is the medieval city, which is included in the UNESCO World Heritage list. It is the largest and best preserved fortified city in Europe with many monuments of Hellenistic, Byzantine, Medieval and Ottoman times. Moreover, the springs of Kallithea, the antiquities of Ialyssos and the Acropolis of Lindos, reveal only a small part of the rich heritage of the island. Near the city of Rhodes is the green valley of the Butterflies, a magnificent area that is filled with streams of running water and countless butterflies that offer an unforgettable spectacle.

On the shores of an Aegean island full of butterflies, on a sparkling beach with clear waters: there lies the Electra Palace Rhodes, bright and colorful, a modern resort with clean lines, made for you to have the best summer holidays of your life. Start your day with a hearty breakfast in the Grand, our main restaurant. Enjoy the magnificent views of the Aegean and spend your day at the beach or by the big central pool. There are also outdoor yoga classes and spa and massage treatments, for you to completely relax while on vacation. The children are well taken care of at the kids’ club, playing fun games and learning new things. There are three restaurants, two serving ethic cuisine.and there are also three bars.

Also, couldnt believe the speed in which we cleared customs. From leaving the plane on the runway to getting in the coach through customs, 15 mins tops. The Greek customs men were really on the ball, with every booth getting visitors through (and they checked our paperwork too!). Very impressive as there were two flights in at the same time.

Just returned from Rhodes and for some reason AI holidays were cheaper than SC or half board. However because the slightly larger hotels offering AI deals kept the customers all day, the small family owned establishments suffered. The larger hotels seemed very impersonal and it was a shame that had these hotels offered half board all the smaller businesses could have benefited a little too.

We should perhaps give names to those two trees?

Peter - like a lot of hotels here and on other islands it became obvious that the number of tourists would not cover the costs of opening and running a large hotel. So, for once, it is the small locally owned hotels that are managing to open and recover something from this season. At least the money generated stays on the island and with local people that way!

Doesn't do the area any favour this panning around. Looks quite barren and scruffy to be honest.

Panning needs a few tweaks, it should linger on the Hotel grounds and sunbed area more if possible.

Naah not for me thanks, prefer the old cam view best. This pans around on a lot of nothing, lingering on two trees on the beach???
