Thank you Patti. I just hope one day i will be able to visit Arica. It is one of the places i have been fascinated by ever since i was a child. Probably because of the contrast created by the proximity to the ocean and dryness of the climate. Best wishes !

Hello Patti! Yes, the website works. I have some problems with my spanish, but google translate helps me. Found interesting things regarding the rainfall in Chile. Pity the stations located in the northern third of the country are not taken into account (north of La Serena) when speaking about precipitation. But i will look better, probably i did not know where to look.

Mihaí Alexandru, I understand that if it is for study, then to be more precise in the answers, I looked for last rains and found that 05.07.17 there was a 15 minute and wet enough. But I want to help you and better I send you some official and reliable addresses, in which they can help you much better than me. (maybe you have to use a translator, if you do not understand Spanish) meteochile you put the ws before you And you end with the cl point (Chile Weather Directorate) you can see the weather and the state full time including UV radiation indexes "onemi" the same, you look for it as a website (National Emergency Office of Chile), this reports all kinds of states of emergencies and natural disasters such as volcanoes, earthquakes, tsunamis, earthquakes, in short , this is the one that is in connection with the Shoa, and we are always on alert in case of earthquakes and possible tsunamis, the phones are activated Leaving us of the emergency, and we have already lived it. And finally a climatic Explorer that will serve you quite I suppose, and gives information of the South American cone. Look it up as is, Explorer.cr2.cl I hope it will help you for your studies, by the way the city of Arica although arid has enough vegetation including 2 beautiful valleys irrigated by the rivers that come from the mountain range and also drip irrigation.Arica exports the famous olive of the Valley of Azapa, very delicious.

Thank you Patti. So, approximately 3 years ago you had a sparse rainfall. I was making a study on the rainfall patterns on the west coast of South America, starting from Medellin (Columbia), which i know is not on the coast but i couldn`t find any other weather station around there and ending in Puerto Aisen, Chile. It is absolutely unbelievable to see how the cold Humboldt Current, the Andes and the South Pacific High contribute to create hyper-arid conditions in an area that otherwise would have had enough rainfall to allow luxuriant tropical vegetation to grow without any irrigation at all.

Mihai Alexandru Retegan, Hello! If you go to the history of this chat, sure you find comments and answers to your question, I remember because I myself answered and others I think too. But if you do not want to check, Arica has not rained for about three years, sometimes or usually in summer drizzle, for a so-called Bolivian winter, and the Andes mountain range melts and the rivers go down. Regards!

Hello dear friend Bosika, after so much time, I come to this camera, missing my Arica. Thanks for your words! :), and I read a good part of the story in Hungary, and it was sad that there were many people killed. Are you a revolutionary child? and let me say hello for your late birthday, what date? I hope you have enjoyed your birthday with those who love you. It is already beginning to take summer color in this chamber and not as cloudy as before, I heard the sound of seagulls and other birds of the place, very pleasant accompanied by the sound of the waves. The dawn yesterday in Balaton was very beautiful and I captured an image, I hope skyline upload it. Have a nice week. I II III

Hello! Could someone from Arica please tell me when was the last time he/she saw rain? I am asking this because the city is actually ranked as being among the driest places on Earth. In Chile probably only Quillagua is drier than Arica. Thank you
