When the sun is on the wall in the background it looks there is a picture built into the blocks/stones. I would guess that is just the worn crumbling surfaces of the blocks, but it does look like an abstract design.
Blowing a gale today 20/4
Good Morning Avril, you ok Dear ?
Hi all you missing tbis Island waves_malta is a request radio station on line from Malta. Its the isolation station. 10.00 - 12.00 CET.
Cheers Kevin, we will all party when this virus is over, and then go on holiday !
Hi Derek05, That's bad news, your plans have been hit harder than ours, I hope you've managed a refund. I now have to contact the hotel near Glasgow airport where we'd booked to stay and park the car before the flight and stay another night when we return, I don't mind if it's a voucher from them as we use them everytime we fly from Glasgow although it will be for 3 rooms as our daughters were going with us. The holiday company have said they will refund if they have cancelled the holiday, which they have, although I'm sure that a refund will be the last option, we will see. Maybe it will have to be a road trip this year when we come out of lockdown. Thanks for the birthday wishes, I've passed it on.
Hi Kevin, rough about your holiday cancellation, we know the feeling, we were due to go to Lake Como in Italy TODAY, and we were off to France the 3rd week in May, for 5 weeks, but not anymore!! Something to look forward to in the future. Not sure how you will go on getting a rebate, most holiday Companies really don't like giving out rebates, they will probably try to persuade you to take a holiday voucher, so you choose a different venue (when safe), or wait until Malta is ok again. The problem with all this is, when destinations are safe again, the prices will probably increase sharply, to enable the travel companies to get back some of their lost revenue. Hope you go on ok, and a Very Happy 70th to your good lady !
Hi Avril, I remember the secretaries doing something like that to the new girl in the office, I thought it was a bit harsh but she's now a high flyer in the local council so I guess it did her no harm. Speed typing was never an issue in my job so I didn't progress past 2 fingers on each hand. It's just been confirmed that our Malta holiday in May for my wifes 70th has been cancelled but as we can't leave the house for another 8 weeks we wouldn't have been able to go so it's going to be a case of re-arrange or try to get a refund. Stay safe.
Hi Kevin, when I learned to type, the keys were either covered up or the letters removered, we had to touch type and remember which key was which.
Hi Derek05, thanks, yes it's certainly been a profession that's evolved, I’ve seen so many changes since the mid sixties, as colour TVs became slimmer in the seventies and eighties we amused ourselves with thoughts that soon we’d be able to hang them on a wall, as computers arrived we thought that one day we’d be talking to them, giving them names, asking questions and commanding them to do menial tasks, the popular TV series ’The Man From U.N.C.L.E.’ had their agents communicating through video wrist watches. I guess it’s all happened just as we imagined. I wonder what the next 50 years will bring. Stay safe everyone.
Hi Kevin, sounds like you have had a great working life, now enjoy retirement when all this virus stuff has gone away !
Hi Derek05, The north east is on our bucket list, maybe if we can't go to Malta this year it's an option. Most of the kids were brilliant, well, most of the time they were polite and helpful also very interested to see what was going on. In Scotland Primary lasts 7 years, Secondary lasts 6 years so in theory there are more children in Primary than Secondary and laterly more computers, the Secondary schools have their own in house technicians but not the Primary schools, initially our team of 3 technicians supported almost 90 Primary schools driving 200 miles some days or 2 ferry crossings and an overnight stay another day, every day was different. In my opinion we have some fantastic Primary schools and Teachers in the west of Scotland, it was a great job which I thoroughly enjoyed and I was sad to leave when I retired. Stay safe everyone.
Hi Kevin, some career you've had ! Are most Scottish kids bonkers, or just the schools you visited ? We love Scotland, and visit every year if we can, we enjoy Ballater and the North East, great place.
Hi Derek05, I think my spelling is ok too but in case of mistakes I either blame my dyslexic and arthritic fingers or a wonky keyboard. Actually before retring I used to fix computers in some of our rural Primary schools in Scotland, one school broke keyboards at an alarming rate, the key caps were always missing, another school had a child who removed the key caps then refitted them in a different order, another school had someone who managed to change the language settings for the keyboard, so my theory is that 1 in 10 children are smart but annoying, 1 in 100 are smart but irritating and 1 in 1000 have a great future ahead of them but I'm not sure which side of the law it will be on. Stay safe everyone in these troubling times, we're 2 weeks in to house arrest, hopfully we'll get out in 10 weeks for good behaviour.
Michael, Im safe and well in the UK not Malta, we just holiday there, and there is nothing rong with my spelinj
Hope you are all keeping safe, we had 3 weeks over there in Jan and then 10 days Feb to March. We came home on the 4th March, just before it all started here in the UK and over there in Malta. To all, wherever you are hope you weather this disaster safely.
