14oct19--Just 1.72 miles from Merano is 'Tyrol Castle' (Castel Tirolo). Hilltop castle 'Museum' dating from the Middle Ages housing archaeological finds & multi-media exhibits. There are 20 first-level constituent entities 'regions' of the Italian Republic. Trentino-South Tyrol being one. Tyrol Castle was the ancestral seat of the Counts of Tyrol and gave the whole Tyrol region its name.

11oct19-- Tappeiner Promenade (Passeggiata Tappeiner) with an Observation deck is a quite simple walk to do even with the stroller. Franz Tappeiner, Edler von Tappein (7 January 1816, Laas – 20 August 1902, Meran) was an Austrian physician and anthropologist. The Tappeinerweg (Tappeiner Promenade), is a popular 2.5 mile trail in the city of Merano which is named after him, as is the "Franz Tappeiner Hospital", also located in Merano. EnJoy EnJoy
