    Don't want to be pedantic "Aitch" but that is the Regents Canal. The Grand Union runs from Brentford straight up to Birmingham via Braunston ~ the Regents Canal is an 'arm' of it.

    Daiwai..daddyfixit....this is why I asked Gary, I’ve been to Venice a few times and like you say not all bars and restaurants are expensive.

    @daddyfixit - totally agree - plenty of scope for inexpensive restaurants. And, as you say, doesn't smell at all.

    we spent 3 days in Venice last August; it does not smell, if you eat/drink away from the main tourist routes it is not expensive, we are hoping to go back next year maybe.
