Peter Keddie, I also lived in Malta in the 1960's, and loved it as it really was unspoilt then. I have been back 3 times, 1986, 1996, and finally 2010, but was very disappointed how Malta could so easily fall into the "Typical tourist destination" trap, and losing most of it's character and charm whilst doing so. I have already decided that I will not be going back. It's such a shame that greed overrules common sense :(

I lived in Malta in the 50's and again in the mid 60's. In those days, the tourist brochures claimed Malta to be the "unspoilt isle" which it was. I haven't heard that phrase used in many a year proving that someone realises the term no longer applies.

@Markp and PMM. I last went to Malta in 2010, and as far as I was concerned there had already been too much "development", so much so that it had ruined the character of these lovely islands, all in the name of money.
I'm afraid that I will also be going elsewhere in future, so sad :(

Yes, i have been checking all the webcams, and I was there last summer. Huge hi rise buildings being built, traffic congestions everywhere, trucks, lorries and dusts, and coming in to land, all we saw was cranes. Now they are thinking of building a tunnel to Gozo to ruin that as well. We will be heading to Cyprus from now on and they can keep that mess.

29.04.19. Not been on this cam for ages - quite shocked to see the hotel complex building work opposite! Will completely change the skyline view.

Is there any chance of the wonderful underwater camera being replaced. It was one of the best.
