For Sam, The recent excavations at the site where the Tiro a Volo at the Pian di Poma rose, brought to light an old bunker built by the Germans after 8 September 1943, when Hitler's army occupied a large part of the Peninsula following the armistice of Badoglio with the Anglo-Americans. The construction, per se strategic and overlooking the sea, is composed on the upper floor by defensive bunkers and on the lower level, at the level of the beach, a remittance of mini submarines of the Kriegsmarine, the Reich navy, used for raids against the allies in France (never operational and mostly wrecked).
12nov19--Can somebody explain what the three arches seen ( there are four - one we can't see ) are about? My guess is they were WWII bunkers. EnJoy EnJoy
