The enchanting beach of Falasarna is located 59 km west of Chania and 17 km west of Kissamos, in the western part of the Gramvousa Peninsula. At the northern end of the beach are the ruins of the Greco-Roman city of Falasarna. Falasarna is one of the most famous beaches in Greece, as it has been awarded in the past as the best beach in Crete and one of the 10 best beaches in Europe. It extends over a very large area and consists essentially of 5 consecutive beaches, with the two most central being the most popular.
The sand is light colored, giving the water a tropical color. Indeed, if you are lucky and come on a day that does not blow from the west, which is a bit rare in Western Crete in summer, then you will be enchanted by the sea and its turquoise waters. The main beach of Falasarna is called Pahia Ammos and is an exotic wide sandy beach with a length of 1 km. It is the one that receives the most people in the area, but due to its large size it always seems empty.
