    "Izzy" I was born in 63 so my when i was older my parents did speak of the winter that lasted for months..I did go to school in snow/got soaked/freezing cold & threw snowballs but just got on with it. kids nowadays stay off school if its raining !!!! (and their parents think thats ok)

    daddyfixit, yes, absolutely! I am also in UK. When I was a child, the schools were kept open, we sat in coats, gloves and wellies, with pools of water round our feet. We made slides on the playground, and snowballed the other primary school across a main road. Did you have smog, or maybe you are too young! We had to be guided home by torch , and that was midday!

    watching them digging it out yesterday, the snow looked to be at shoulder height at least ? In the UK the government shuts everything down if snowflakes touch London or any railway line in the country !

    Thursday 10th 9.00am. Watching the inhabitants digging themselves out, and using a snow blower , amazing! Beautiful though.

    Just found this web cam and am wondering why 55 people are on line watching a black screen?
