Mythimna or Molyvos is a large traditional village, located in northern northwest coast of the island, 62 km. Northwest of Mytilene. Molyvos is one of the most tourist areas of the island and is characterized by its natural beauty and its picturesque architecture.

The houses with their traditional architecture made of stone and wood and painted with bright colors, combined with the impressive Byzantine castle that dominates the area, create a picturesque and romantic environment.

The village is populated since antiquity as the ancient Mithymna was built at same position but unfortunately not much was saved.

The view of the Aegean Sea is unique. Nearby is Eftalou, with the famous beach and the thermal spas.

Molyvos Tourism Organization undertook to highlight the unique environmental and cultural resources of the area, to highlight the Molivos Lesvos as a unique tourist destination and offers visitors unforgettable vacation. Members of Molyvos Tourism Agency can be persons over 18 years, professionals in the tourism industry of the island of Lesvos, but also people regardless profession who believe that they can contribute to the achievement of the Agency's objectives. Each member must pay the annual financial contribution, set according to the economic size of their profession. The Agency's office is open to the public and any new idea and volunteer help is welcome. The Agency organizes meetings to inform the public of the activities and actions.

what a lovely calm evening. Wished I was sat at one of the harbour front tables with a nice Mythos to watch the world go by.

Thanks for restoring the webcam picture for Molyvos harbour, I'm sure it takes a great resource to keep these things in running order.
It does appear to be over reacting to the bright lights of the harbour restaurants, maybe it could be dimmed slightly please.

Thank you Skyline for returning the beloved Lesvos webcam for our viewing pleasure. One favor please, could you lower the camera angle so that we do not see so much sky. Thank you :)

Ref your question Bernard burrows - have been coming to Lesvos for many years and have seen nearly every town and village on island. Anaxos is small - consists of the village road and the seafront road plus a very nice beach - so if you like to stay pretty much in the same place with the same people (mainly British) on your holiday you will like it. It is very casual and laid-back, nothing flashy about it which is great. I personally wouldn't choose to stay there because it is a bit out of the way and we like to walk and travel around the island, finding different beaches etc. so don't b put off by that, everybody likes to do different things on their hols. (We stay on the outskirts of Molyvos as it is a really nice place to be n the evening and has a wider mix of people, and of course many lovely Greek inhabitants). Hope this helps.
