Port of Fiskardo - Kefalonia live cam

Unique view of Fiskardo Port

Port of Fiskardo - Kefalonia

Kefalonia is the sixth largest island and the largest of the Ionian Sea. The capital is Argostoli. On the island there are many sites that belong to the Natura 2000 network. Due to its strategic location, the island experienced many conquerors, among them the French, the English and the Venetians who particularly affected the arts and culture of the island. The British gave the Ionian Islands back to Greece on 1864, as a goodwill gesture.

Fiscardo is the most northern village of Kefalonia. It is possible to reach Fiscardo by ferry from Lefkada of Ithaca or Astakos. Fortunately Fiscardo was not affected from the big earthquake of 1953 as the rest of the island and this is the reason why there exist a lot of houses that maintain intact the architecture tradition. Thanks to the Venetians and is t port experienced great growth. Today Fiscardo is a cosmopolitan tourist destination. In the village exist many traditional taverns and cafes.

The Fiscardo Studios is located in the center of the port of Fiscardo. It was built on 1993. Although built relatively recently, the complex is designed to match the traditional environment. The complex consists of 6 fully equipped studios, almost 30 m2 each, a café, a restaurant, a souvenir shop.

17.09.20. Hi Margaret- just popped on here to see if you replied! Ha ha! Yes we stayed south of the island a few times and rented a car for the day to see Fiskardo once. What awful weather tonight - you may be right about it coming over from Malta. We are in the Midlands - but just south of the restricted Sandwell, Solihull and Birmingham areas thankfully. Do wonder which ‘way’ this will go in the UK. Stay safe. Mandy P - it is not an easy situation is it regarding the desperate situation these people find themselves in. A huge problem across the world.

"From The Kefalonia Pulse today 17th September 2020
Over 50 refugees found near Fiskardo this morning At dawn today a Lefkada Port Boat discovered a sailboat sailing off Kefalonia with refugees onboard (potentially heading for Italy) , near Dafnoudi beach. The Kefalonia authorities were informed who transported the boat to Fiskardo. They have arrested the two Ukrainian traffickers who are being taken to prosecutors offices in Argostoli. There were over 50 immigrants aboard including women with children. The refugees have been provided with food, water and cleanliness then temporarily transferred to Agia Pelagia (Svoronata) until they are transported to Athens το Hosting Centers. They were taken to Fiskardo where at this time Ukrainian traffickers are transferred to Argostoli to be brought before the Prosecutor" I am glad they were rescued in such stormy weather.

Hi PMM, I'll see if it's 2021 before you reply!! Hope you are all well. You've probably seen we've had restrictions put on the North East today, flaming idiots in pubs and other peoples houses.
What strange weather in Kefalonia today, I don't know if you noticed that Malta had some awful weather a couple of days ago, so maybe it's travelled east. We used to stay at the other end of the island, so I've only been to Fiskardo a couple of times, I remember it was lovely, but very expensive. As David has commented it looks like the end of the season. Take care.

17.09.2020. Hi Margaret. I’m replying to your comment - only a year later - ha ha! Apologies. We loved Kephalonia and have been three times. Fortunately we did manage to hire a car and drive up to Fiscardo - such a beautiful harbour. Another nice memory was that our son proposed to his girlfriend here!

Strange isn't it, looking at the Fiskado camera today 11 11 19, the sky is overcast but, here in Dorset I'm looking at a blue sky though it is chilly.
