08:51 October 3, 2019 - My previous note to PAW was written October 3. I was so used to typing September, I goofed.
08:37 September 3, 2019 - Greetings PAW. Thanks for the info. about Flo the Flamingo. Very clever idea and I'm sure Flo is fun to peddle around. It was fun to watch too. By the way, I wrote about an experience I had on a trip in 1976 at Dover Beach. You will have to page back in the comments to find it......interesting reading.
J. Funny - that's Flo the Flamingo pedalo you can hire her :)
12:33 September 14, 2019 - There is a bright pink flamingo-shaped boat with someone in it just offshore. I'm wondering if it is a peddle boat (no engine?). I haven't seen one of those before. And on the side of it is written, "Rent Me".....very clever!! Submitted a photo.
A trifle breezy today,I think the ferries may stop sailing.
How soon the weather changes .
21:50 July 25 - Oh wow!!! I just came on here after watching the Deal cam. What I just saw here was a bolt of lightning that streaked all the way across the top of my screen. This Dover cam faces east towards Deal. Between both cams, it's a light show out there. Stay safe everyone there!!
Leaving for Paris on the 14.45 ferry on Friday to watch the Tour de France final.....the watcher becomes, momentarily, the watched.......ironic!!
I wouldn't want a moving camera here. Nor one with sound. The privacy of people visiting the place would be damaged too much, if we even heard them talking to each other, too. A moving camera would disturb watching the scene quietly, ships coming in and out of the harbour, kids sailing.... Many interesting cams, which were changed to movng cams aren't interesting any more, because the permanently changing views and perspectives make it impossible to concentrate on interesting items, for example at an African cam near a Safari Hotel, to watch elephants quietly while drinking at a little lake and caring for their baby-elefants. The cam looks at that picture and suddenly leaves the scene to show other areas - for a short time only again.. Sorry for my perhaps bad English, Greetings Harald
Thank you Emma for you kind donation towards the new moving webcam. We're 30% of the way there now :-)
05:30 June 17 - Hi James Salmon - Thanks for your attention to cleaning the camera lens. Little Incy certainly is persistent! If you could find her, put her in a nice garden where she will do pest control.....yummy bugs! (Spiders are one of the most beneficial things in the garden). Happy hunting!.....I would do it for you, but I'm not anywhere near you. Thank you for your effort....we all appreciate it. By the way, I hope you folks consider adding sound to your next cam; we would love to hear the activity that goes on there. Ta ta for now, James.
Incy is back from her winter travels and is making a regular appearance at the moment!I keep cleaning the camera, but she's keeps making a return ;-)
11:30 June 6 (UK time) - At this moment, I am watching the D-Day'75 ceremony that is taking place in Normandy, France. For those of you who took part in D-Day in 1944, and those of you whose family members and friends did, I thank you so very much......thank you.....I thank you for freedom......we will never forget you.
05:21 June 4, 2019 - James Salmon, If you work at Dover Sea Sports Centre, or someone else who does......1) This cam: please clean the spider and its web off of the lens. 2) When you replace this cam, would you please include sound?!!!! Thanks a bunch.
Great idea, James. I am one who nearly came by to say hello from the U.S. After a day at Dover Castle, though, we had to call it quits for the day. :)
