Strange that my comment concurring with @James and saying it was like a "peep show" got censored and deleted. Rather offensive and too big brotherish, me thinks. Still, some good shows from Etna of late.

Two stripes of snow on the cam makes it look as though you're peering through blinds. Etna giving dark redy/brown plumes.

the volcano is erupting but it is in an advisory state and it has been for quite a few months, if earthquakes and amount of ash being spewed changes, they they'll probably change it. NOT saying the volcano is safe, but it is safer than others such as Alaska's Shishaldin which has been going back in forth from eruption watch to warning for the past few days now.

The volcano is erupting and yet hikers are walking away from the paths and walking closer to the volcano to view the eruption. People just don’t realize how much trouble their actions can bring. Stay safe.

Once had a flight from Malta delayed and re-routed because Etna had erupted, and at least we were told why we were late taking off by the company we flew with.

Hi Valerie, folks. Last update on Etna I found on Italian civil protection website said there is red warning, in short: absolutely no hiking above 3000m. And it's as far as the jeep-o-bus is going anyway. We had this situation in October 2018, there were no-go signs installed and a guide waiting for each group. Still, to be there, see everything up close and hear noises from the eruption... amazing experience (and I'm writing this while listening to sonic waves from Stromboli hitting my front door every time he explodes).

Mike H hahaha, the day we went to etna, she was blowing out a lot of smoke, and I chickened out of it!!! the thought of the off road jeeps scared me a bit too. Then of course I was cross for not going. We saw the lava house and found the geocache there, which was a bonus. For the rest we poked around a bit at the silvestri cratori etc. Just got home yesterday, having driven almost 5000 kms, and seeing wonderful things. I saw etna every day when we were in Trescastagni from my friend's balcony. Just once on the slopes and she wouldn't come with us as it was rather active. Wonderful experiences never the less.
