am I the only one having almost constant buffering on this web cam- thanks
Once had a flight from Malta delayed and re-routed because Etna had erupted, and at least we were told why we were late taking off by the company we flew with.
Hi Valerie, folks. Last update on Etna I found on Italian civil protection website said there is red warning, in short: absolutely no hiking above 3000m. And it's as far as the jeep-o-bus is going anyway. We had this situation in October 2018, there were no-go signs installed and a guide waiting for each group. Still, to be there, see everything up close and hear noises from the eruption... amazing experience (and I'm writing this while listening to sonic waves from Stromboli hitting my front door every time he explodes).
Mike H hahaha, the day we went to etna, she was blowing out a lot of smoke, and I chickened out of it!!! the thought of the off road jeeps scared me a bit too. Then of course I was cross for not going. We saw the lava house and found the geocache there, which was a bonus. For the rest we poked around a bit at the silvestri cratori etc. Just got home yesterday, having driven almost 5000 kms, and seeing wonderful things. I saw etna every day when we were in Trescastagni from my friend's balcony. Just once on the slopes and she wouldn't come with us as it was rather active. Wonderful experiences never the less.
Hi folks, I was up here about four years ago in September, most of this area was still covered in snow I had to climb through it to reach bare lava, gan canny
Buffering has stopped - at last and I am seeing people walking up Etna- I would have thought they would not be allowed
apparently airspace has been compromised because of the ash eruptions - but are people still walking up Etna ?. Asking this because my webcam view is constantly buffering
Valerie.. Have you been to the summit of Etna yet ?... Jeeze, drive to the cable car station, get the cable car, then the mini bus (As seen on the Skyline webcam)..As the first snowfall can be seen at the top of Etna,, Wrap up warm lol !!!
Mike H and Derek James Beven, thanks for info once again, we are going to take a look this afternoon, I have checked on the geocaching map and it seems to be to the side of the road, even before you get to the area where the cable cars leave from. Strange I have been up a couple of times before and never noticed the house, but maybe I came up from a different direction. It was nice to watch etna this morning from my friends balcony, now it is in the clouds and no longer visible from here.
Valerie D.S. The house in question is on the S.P.92 all that is visible is the pan tile roof ,the house is a two story one, further down the road is an Hotel that was flattened by the lava and has since been rebuilt and near that there is a group of buildings a catholic school, the lava stopped at the chain link fencing surrounding the building.( I think that the nuns did a lot of praying on that day) If you go to LOCATE then click on satellite follow the SP92 down you will come on to a series of bends zoom in on the lower one to see the hotel and the school then follow the road up and you will find the roof. I did post a photo of ot on here a few years ago. gan canny lass and keep an eye on thon volcano.
Valerie, on the drive up to Etna's cable car station there's a house that's covered in a lava flow. (Not sure this is the actual house you're referring too). Close by there's also a lava tube you can walk through. Sorry, I can't give you actual directions to both as I was on an tour from Catania.. All I remember is that both 'attractions' are easily accessible and not far from Etnas's cable car entrance...
01.10.19 lots of walkers today - if it was me I’d take the mini bus ha ha!
Lots of steam and some ash today.
I wondered, if anyone know about the house half buried in lava, if you can get there without a guide?
i just noticed in the time lapse at 0:02 / 0:03 you can see a lava bom
Tomorrow I arrive in Sicily, and will stay very close to etna
