We have a Norwegian Lady statue in Virginia Beach, looking out the ocean. I believe it was a gift from Norway to us. ty ;)
MaDalton. I can't imagine Norway ever being poor with such beauty surrounding it. Even with almost nothing, there is everything. Northern lights, Animals, Waves, History. Song. Ocean. Viking history. Maid of Norway. What wonderful heritage! Sorry to hear about the fishermen. I can't imagine the pain that was caused to their families by their deaths way back. What a tragedy. Please, all, be careful of the Witch of November as we call the unexpected storms that happen in late fall.
So very beautiful! My family is Norwegian as well. Love coming here everyday! Best wishes from Prince Rupert, BC Canada
Hello GogoThis is wonderful cam. I enjoy most days as well. You stay well and safe as well!
So pretty, fog settling in. Makes me sleepy.
What a view! Snow on the mountain, the sun is shinning and the water is like mirror! It is my life dream to wake up one morning and see this view at person! PS I keep coming to watch this cam every single day! Good morning everyone, stay well and safe!
Good night, Lofoten.

Good evening! Is this a parade of boats as a few went out so far and they coming back,
Hei MaDalton. my family's name is Jacobson, Ayres, Fletcher Pike and Shotwell. Jacobson is the Norwegian. Are they are stories of these people in the area there?
MaDalton, I got results from ancestry testing and they come from norway south and all the way up to the lofoten by where you are and that whole inlet area facing the mainland.
MaDalton...From the map , it looks as if they came from the Reine, Henningsvaer and Nusfjord area. On the inside of the islands, facing the mainland. That is so exciting. They were probably fishermen and worked under the Northern Lights. :)
Carolynn, you know where your ancestors came from here in Norway? Glad you saw the Nothern light, because we had a lot of bad weather this winter, a lot of cloudy days and some storms; and clouds means we can't see the Northern lights. But soon it will be light all night anyhow, from end of April. Where do you come from?
Good morning Carolynn and Frank, I live up here, on the other side of the Fjord, so I look onto the Lofoten. The fishing here is still with smaller fishing boats, for the most, but has decrease enormously over the last decades. Around 50 years ago, most people here were fisherman, with adionally having a small farm - meaning a cow, some sheeps and chickens. The man were out fushing, while the women stayed at home with the children and farm. Of course a very dangerous proffesion, because the sea is quiete wild and the weather unpredicable. In the 1890s a storm hit suddenly and more than 500 fisherman were killed, in their small , mostly open boats. Meaning the families (wife and children) were left without an income and often starved to death. Norway was very poor at that time, the second poorest country in Europe. It was before the oil.But I guess, Frank, you living in Novia Scotia know a lot about fishing?
Wow lots of snow falling just like a blizzard 09.08 11/04/22 in the UK
