Peach, you are correct, that is what the lights are from.

But also, if you use the locate feature (satellite view is easier to me) there a ton of places at the mountain well below the craters that could have caused the lights.

Hey Barbara lister! it is probably the restaurant/ B&B that is up on the mountain. Rifugio Giovanni Sapienza. I went there for a 2018 trip unfortunately for me the only day we went it was rainy and foggy as could be. Driving up the mountain was quite scary as it got hard to even see the road. Highly recommend Rifugio though!

Barbara: I don't know, for sure. But, I've thought that is an observation center, where the tourists go. At least, that's IMHO. I would like to know for sure, too.

Just watched what looks like a helicopter circling Etna a couple of times during which, there was an eruption and the helicopter seems to have landed near the line of lights on left hand side , followed by a short burst of siren

Anyone know what the long line of lights are half way up the mountain on left side of webcam- it looks like a well lit road going in a straight line towards the middle of the picture then the lights seem to just stop.It is very strange as it is a long very straight line of lights (but no sign of vehicles moving on it). Thanks

I wish there was a zoom-lens on the crater. You can't see a lot of detail, from this far back. Although, the picture in the daytime, would make a pretty, jigsaw puzzle picture.
