Hi Gavin R.... Just to let you know you track the Billy Rowney to and from Newlyn via a boat tracking system and many other trawlers and the Penlee Lifeboat too, I don't if you know but Newlyn is where it is based. If you go to the Penlee Lifeboat Station Official Website you can click on "Track Lifeboat" at the top of the page, and then do a search for any boat and then you track them..hope this helps... Martyn
Hi Bob C and Carol , there was a documentary called Trawler wars on the Discovery channel a few years back which included some trawlers from Newlyn and Brixham one being Called Billy Rowney from Newlyn I often have a look to see if I can see her coming or going , it was a good documentary , it showed all the hardship these lads have to go through to bring the catch in , the series was so good I bought the Dvd !
A foggy morning in Newlyn! hope all the fisherman stay safe.
Why Kernow Lad, are you having some problems?. I get a white screen on some of the cams.
What's happened to Skyline.................have they gone 'bust' ?.
I know they get a load of shellfish but not sure on what actual fish they catch. I believe the harbour has got it's own fish sheds where they sell all the fish. I hope someone will correct me if I am wrong.
A very nice webcam of the harbour. I just saw a white boat returning and was surprised at how quick and agile it was. I was wondering what fish they caught and where it got sold?
Enbeejay, I've just had a quick look at Galway in Ireland and they say at approx. 4pm they will get gusts of up to 80 mph. and as you say St.Ives about 65mph. hope the cameras can stand the gusts.
It is getting really windy, with very strong gusts, in Cornwall, as backed up by the white topped waves, thanks to ex-hurricane Ophelia. Wind are due to peak in about 4-5 hours.
I would recommend anybody to come down to Newlyn. The fishermen are not as wild as they make them out to be on the tv, they are very friendly, hard working guys, and they don't bite, talking from experience of course. I love living down here :-)
So glad we're getting more UK webcams!! :)
Peter, thanks for that, It didn't look like a trawler.
Hi Mick, the grey vessel that looks a bit Navy, is the Fisheries Patrol boat.
Good morning everyone. It appears very misty this morning and not much movement from the vessels. Does anyone know if that is a navy vessel moored up in the background?
