it looks very clear today shame no cows again and I just missed the Train :(
Oh dear, in my excitement I forgot the time difference, I shall have to wait till tomorrow now.
Glad to see the camera is back, I've really missed this one but at least I'll see the last train of the day. Thank you to the engineers.
Ah, Barbara - I am so sorry it wasn't what you had been looking forward to! My daughter did this ride on her own last June and has some great pictures. However her train wasn't as crowded as it sounds like yours was. Was your entire trip with a tour group? Or just this ride?

@Barbara. Seems a shame you were disappointed. Were you part of a tour group? If so, they may have mis-sold you the trip as the Berrnina Express. It's actually the same price, other than you need a reservation which is currently 14 CHF. I went first class and my daughter and I had two seats with a table, there was bags of room. True the windows don't open, though there is an opening window at the end of each carriage for glare-free photos.
The ‘Bernina Express’ trains – at 10:15, 11:44, 12:30, 13:18, 14:15, 14:38, 15:25 and 17:18 – usually slow down to a speed of about 20 km/hour and may even stop on the viaduct so that passengers can admire its construction and take photographs.
The Bernina Express looked lovely, spacious, had leaflets inside and I think they serve drinks there. The panoramic windows allow you to contemplate the views. On the other hand, on the cheaper train the windows open, so you get better photos.
The train did not slow down for the viaduct, so I could not take a proper look at the surroundings. And everyone was taking photos, so the view was blocked.

Anyway, I did remember to wave to you at about 1:15 pm that Sunday.
On the whole, the ride was interesting, but the views a bit disappointing if you compare them to the ones seen from the Jungfraujoch train. Haven't seen any cows
Hello, trainspotters! I've come back from my trip to Italy, Switzerland and France. What about my ride? Well, it wasn't the Bernina Express after all, but an ordinary train with small windows, I was furious, our guide said " it goes the same way", well, I don't think they should be using the name "Bernina express" in their catalogue, ugh. The train was not spacious, the knees of the sitting passegers touched. Everyone was taking photos all the time, so you could see windows full of arms and and cameras. The ticket from Tirano to St.Moritz was €25 and the ride lasted 2h 15 minutes.
Just saw to night a tractor ( jcb ) coming down the train tracks, see uploaded photos. 08.06.2017
