Morning all, I have been Benalmedena, it's very pretty around the marina but if you go up in the cable car the view is amazing and from here you can do a day trip to Gibraltar which is an experience or go to Axarquia. There is a place in the mountains who's name escapes me at the moment, it begins with A, they filmed part of the starwars movies there because of the bizarre rock formations and it's really peaceful.

Thanks Deanne, that's the sort of info I was hoping for, I'll take a look....Gwynne, a month would be good.....we do imaginary road trips through Spain that are around a month long, one day maybe!

Deanne, Oban (and Mull) are definitely on my list if we return. Almost went last year. And Tracy, I had been eying the Lake District and hadn't even noticed Carlisle and nearby Hadrian's Wall! I think I need a month or two......

Tracy, I am from Malaga, which boast a beautiful beach and marina area in itself. About 4k to the east of Malaga is Pedregalejo and El Palo. Very cute, traditional little seaside villages, and where the Spanish go for a trip to the beach and a spot of lunch, nightlife is gentle and sedate. Torremolinos is where you would go if you enjoy it busy and lively, and it has an enormous beach, it's not quite as manic as Benidorm, but in the summer can get its fair share of hen do's and stag parties. Benalmadena is a little quieter and also has a beautiful beach and a lovely marina, but sometimes the nightlife from torremolinos can spill over into this area. Let me know if there are any other areas you are interested in.
