Just Got back from the area, Cancelled My Tulum hotel and moved to Isla Mujeres, Where the waters are clear of Seaweed and Tranquil "Playa Norte Beach is amazing! Too Much Seaweed in Tulum/Playa de Carmen this Yea
It looks like the sargassum is on the decline. Can anyone confirm?
The sargassum is back! I've been looking at seas-forecasting.com and it shows the sargassum mat drift in a SE direction.
@ Tim, because sargassum seaweed problematicThis situation looks like an sisyphean task :("The algae washes ashore, piles up on beaches, and decays, often causing a foul odor, releasing fumes of sulphur compounds that rust metals, that can turn taps black in shore houses, damages modern conveniences, and causes respiratory problems, particularly for asthmatics. 52 patients were recorded by a single doctor in Guadeloupe with Sargassum-related symptoms. Insurance problems arise for tourist operators and homeowners, where the household and business losses do not fall into previous insurance categories."ref: WikipediaTonight the sargassum swaps also into the chair area. :( My tip, take a sunbed, lie next the algae carpet und take deep breath. ;)
Looks like the Sargassum Seaweed is gone.
every day, there is a horrible wall of algae and seagrass on the beach, what's going on there last months?

13dec17--Tulum,Mexico view over the beach of Riviera Maya in Quintana Roo brought to us by Hotel Calaluna Tulum IS viewed often by many. The complex at Hotel Calaluna Tulum does not have 'grid' electricity. Their web site states '' no hair dryers , no air conditioning , NO HIGH energy using appliances. Alternative power sources are used. This might explain the low performance of the cam at times. Using the 'locate' function / google map and going to a full blown google map -- 360 degree image spheres show the complex and beach. Also their site can be used. EnJoy EnJoy
7dec17--A Thank You to our host, Hotel Calaluna Tulum , for sponsoring this 'live cam' view over the beach of Riviera Maya in Quintana Roo Tulum, wonderful.
5dec17-- It took a while to catch but as dusk turned to darkness I captured an image for the obligatory night 'photos' , almost black but if you look closely with the lights off____ you can make out the beach shade umbrellas haha EnJoy EnJoy
27nov17--I wanted to upload the obligatory night capture into 'photos' :-/___nothing but absolute blackness. I'll try when the full moon might illuminate wave crests.
Yes sad to see the same problems are here again :(
The errors kept coming back unfortunately.2015/11/17 13:46
