yup Carmen Borg. I guess we knew this would happen again and again eh. I guess we should just be happy for it to be on when we can just watch people walking around the Fountain.

I think I answered my own question. It looks like the red carpets are for the Valletta Film Festival which runs from June 14-23.

Good day everyone. I have heard back from Sergio at the Phoenicia Hotel regarding the Triton Fountain cam being off and on and he was kind enough to shed some light on the situation. He said: "Unfortunately, the webcam is located in a very exposed location on our roof, in fact, it had to be replaced during the winter as it was damaged due to bad weather conditions. Since then, the webcam is indeed experiencing connection issues and the Skyline team have been onsite checking the webcam a couple of times, but it seems that the problems haven't been resolved yet. I believe that the Skyline team is in touch with our Chief Engineer so they will try their best in order to fix it." So at least we now know what's going on with it. Thank you Sergio !

Thanks Dave. I do appreciate Renzo Piano's work but it doesn't compare to the grandeur of the "old" Royal Opera House, the way it was prior to its destruction, which is what I was referring to. I understand a retractable roof is being built to this new one so hopefully that will make it better for sound and weather at least.

The Royal Opera House stands where it has always stood, to the left on the camera, and in all its glory as the new incarnation designed by Renzo Piano, along with his new parliament building built of Maltese Limestone. So we have an open top no side Opera House alongside a parliament building that stands on the site of the old Valletta Railway station

I managed to find an e-mail address for the Phoenicia Hotel so I have just e-mailed them to let them know about the ongoing problems with this webcam. I will let you know the outcome.

Emmanuela and Carmen, I 100% agree with you. The Triton Fountain cam has been consistently off and on these past couple of months(more off than on)and it's incredibly annoying. It goes off even when there are no events. I was hoping to e-mail the Phoenicia Hotel to see if they could shed some light on the elusive Triton Fountain cam but all I could find was a 1-800 # to make reservations through their parent company. So, I guess we'll never know where the problem lies.

Doris, I wouldn't have even known that this is Parliament House as it is such an odd-looking building which looks like its bricks are falling out of it ! And to think that Teatru Rjal, one of the most beautiful and iconic buildings in Valletta once stood there !

carmen borg you are so right. I am so frustrated that every time there is some activity around the Triton Fountain webcams go offline. It was fine earlier but lo and behold as soon as there is something going on,poof,it disappears. It is done on purpose that's for sure. I wrote to the people who run these webcams and was told it's the hosts fault,so Phoenicia Hotel you are being a..holes.
