HI Robin Smith, from the Guardian newspaper , "Genoa, once a powerful maritime city, adopted the St George's Cross as its flag and St George as its patron saint during the Crusades. The symbol was adopted by England toward the end of the religious wars, in the 13th century, with English ships flying the flag of Genoa as a deterrent to enemies."

What you can see (thanks to re-positioned camera) il called "La Madonnina" (=the small Lady) not for the size (4.16 metres) not for the position (108 hight) but because was visible from everywhere in the city of Milan where a law was limiting every other construction to be lower than La Madonnina (to obey to this rule every building higher then it has a copy of same statue on the top).

Nice to see the webcam view re-positioned so we can see La Madelina on top of the Duomo. Milan is calling it's time to visit again.

Thank you Glamour Apartments. Your hosting has inspired art debate! Personally my favorite debate, the effect of art, be it what it may. The people I work for say Milan is a banking city, conservative. I have never been there. But other cities I have visited, that are maybe considered "conservative" have amazing and edgy public art installations. I have noticed, no expert just a fan of free art/music/performance.
