18mar19--The giant urn carved above the entrance to the Treasury bears the marks of hundreds of gunshots. Local men would open fire with rifles, seeking the loot thought to be inside the urn (actually made of solid stone). EnJoy EnJoy

Fascinating documentary 'Lost City of Petra' on Nat Geographic channel, Sky 129, today, 24 Feb 2019, started 3pm. Worth looking out for if you appreciate this building.

How much is a tea in the cafe on the left site and why is almost no-one sitting there?

What the heck is that rhythmic clicking sound that changes in intensity at times?!? There shouldn't be anything else up there as far as I know, and I've never heard it before. Weird!

31oct18--Peter wrote : " Well worth looking up the history of Petra - The Treasury. Fascinating! " I totally agree with Peter. I have not only read a good deal, but also watched two documentaries of this area. Plus I want to say 'toured' ( probably "viewed" is a better word ) all of what 'street view' google and google plus has to offer here on-line. Water was the key. Truly a magical place. EnJoy EnJoy

I have always wanted to go there ... One of my nephews was there last year ... he said it was a very impressive place. I was envious. So much history.
