Benidorm - Playa de Poniente - Puerto

Also known in the world as "New York of the Mediterranean" as well as the "Spanish Rimini", the stunning city of Benidorm is a dream for people looking for a quiet getaway, as well as fun without giving up the chance to participate in a range of watersports and recreational activities including shopping and sightseeing.

Only during the last century tourism begins to move towards Benidorm, from a small fishing village visited by few people it rapidly became a thriving holiday paradise, the tourism mass and a new richer offer including high quality accommodation and services had an immediate impact on the growth of the city. The natural combination of a Mediterranean climate and naturalistic beauties make Benidorm today one of the first holiday destinations of Europe with a number of recreational activities for all ages and a refreshingly new and difference choice for dining and night entertainment.

Benidorm boasts large white and golden beaches and crystal clear waters, mostly visited especially during the sunny spring and summertime, every day is a pleasure in Benidorm, perfect relaxation and tranquility by day whether people want to relax and sunbathe or swim and play games on the beach, hundred of bars and night clubs for a vibrant night-life until the break of dawn; Benidorm is so exciting in the summer but also in winter season, its climate and good services and attractive scenery have turned it into a top tourist spot throughout the whole year, however its economy is partly still based on fishing industry as well. Benidorm boasts around 6 km long luxuriant coastline including two stunning beaches known as Poniente Beach (Playa de Poniente, Platja de Ponent) and Levante Beach (Playa de Levante, Platja de Llevant) in the heart of White Coast (Costa Blanca); with a length of 3 km. and a width of more than 100 m., Poniente Beach offers a number of shops, bars, restaurants, night clubs, hotels directly overlooking the sea, perfect for families with children, it is very close to the inner city and the old town center extending over a promontory, a very interesting spot for the curious tourists so attracted by its churches, monuments and surrounding areas.

The wonderful city of Benidorm is one of the most popular cities on the world-famous Costa Blanca, stretching over 200 km. from north of Alicante and Benidorm to Denia and running down to Pilar de la Horadada, it is a real magnet for nature lovers attracted by the Mediterranean scenery boasting wide beaches and sand dunes, cliffs and vivid sceneries on one side and mountain ranges as a natural protection by winds on the other. It is extremely easy to find quality restaurants with sun terraces and superb views on the bay of Benidorm, all guests will have the widest choice of attractive eateries and cafès offering the best culinary specialties of the Valencia region.

Didn’t realise it would take 70 minutes on train from Benidorm to Alicante, seems a long time.

Yep, it's The Alicante tram network, The network comprises the following lines: L1 (tram-train), limited-stop service from Alicante city centre to Benidorm (70 minutes). In Benidorm it connects with line L9 to Dénia. The Denia line is being upgraded at the moment, so it's a bus service after Calpe.

The tv programme was one of those that didn’t do Benidorm any favours, it just showed British people making fools of themselves!!!

Hi ladies, I didn't watch the programme, not my cup of tea. I've been holidaying in Beni for a few years now and always stay the Old Town side of the Levante beach. Prefer the more traditional feel, not so high rise. Hoping to be there late September, before the Moors & Christians fiesta. Have seen them before and it gets a bit too busy for me.

Angela M..... Yes I agree with you they always seem to show the tacky side, it’s about time someone made a tv programme about how nice it is. Anyone who’s never been and watched the programe would definitely be put off!!!
