Once arrived, its pick-up the hired car, drive to the marina at Fenes and exchange the car for the SukiDukes for a fortnight (previous post). Then we are officially Yachties lol. ... 1 day 4hrs 50 mins to go!

More holiday makers en'route for those sunny rays and mega warm sea.... 2 days to go and my partner and I will be there too .... look out for the joyous waves of two new holiday'ers saying hello to the live-cam (chuckle)

Had the same thing in Crete once, my partner and I were only 12' from the sea on our sunbeds, but to buy some Melon slices from the beach seller who was only half way between us and the sea, we had to dart quickly into the surf..cool our feet, then run back to the seller and buy some slices, then run back into the surf to chill off again before returning to our beds to feast. (the seller had sandals on. (we hadn't brought any to the beach)). If we hadn't done that then we would have burnt the complete soles of our feet, literally. Obviously since that day we always pack some beach sandals as well as drink and towels. lol

Suspect the weather end of June will be hotter than was in September. Went a few years ago end of June and couldn't even walk on the sand in Pefkos.

TonyS. My partner and I return every year to Rhodes and try a new adventure each time (This time we are Yachties) lol. We made the numerical 350 steps to the Tsambika Monastery last year, very exhausting but worth the effort. At the top is a water tap and bottles that you can use free to replenish and freshen up, and also the fantastic views of the island as far as Lindo’s. I’m not sure why you are attempting the climb to the Monastery as it is a regarded locally as a fertility Monastery and even has small waxed baby dolls inside where for a few euros you can light a candle and make your wish (prayer) lol. Anyhow, for whichever we hope you all the best in achieving the goal and suggest its done either early morning or late afternoon when the temperature is more bearable.

TonyS, In 2 weeks also, my partner and I have hired a 27ft 4 berth off/shore cabin cruiser called the Sukidukes to beach troll Rhodes island with. We will visit and stay at Kolymbia beach marina near the Limanaki Restaurant for a few days, why not say hello and join us for a Greek salad and a glass of chilled wine.

Rhodes

Rhodes is a Greek island located in the southeastern Aegean. It is the third most populated Greek island after Crete and Evia. Rhodes, the island of Knights, offers to its visitors a journey into the past, party till the morning, cosmopolitan resorts and beautiful isolated beaches. As you can imagine, Rhodes is a place of contrasts. Located at the crossroads of two major sea lanes of the Mediterranean, the Aegean Sea and the coast of the Middle East. One of the main attractions of the island is the medieval city, which is included in the UNESCO World Heritage list. It is the largest and best preserved fortified city in Europe with many monuments of Hellenistic, Byzantine, Medieval and Ottoman times. Moreover, the springs of Kallithea, the antiquities of Ialyssos and the Acropolis of Lindos, reveal only a small part of the rich heritage of the island. Near the city of Rhodes is the green valley of the Butterflies, a magnificent area that is filled with streams of running water and countless butterflies that offer an unforgettable spectacle.
